Priscilla Macias has been in private practice since 2000. She obtained a Bachelors in Arts at Arizona State University. She completed her Masters in counseling and studied at Walden University for EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing)
Priscilla is a well known therapist traveling from state to state to meet the needs of patients across America.
Research indicates that EMDR is effective in reducing symptoms of PTSD and trauma-related disorders. Neuroimaging studies have demonstrated changes in brain activity and connectivity patterns associated with symptom improvement following EMDR treatment, suggesting neurobiological mechanisms underlying its therapeutic effects.
EMDR has also been investigated as a treatment for other anxiety disorders, such as phobias and panic disorder. Neuroimaging studies examining the neural correlates of EMDR in these populations may provide insights into its broader applicability for anxiety-related conditions.
There is emerging evidence suggesting that EMDR may have antidepressant effects. Neurobiological research exploring the impact of EMDR on brain regions implicated in depression, such as the amygdala and hippocampus, could shed light on its potential mechanisms of action for mood disorders.
The neuroplastic changes induced by EMDR and their long-term implications for brain function and structure. Understanding how EMDR modulates neural circuits involved in learning and memory may inform the development of optimized treatment protocols and personalized interventions.
